Position Title

Department Secretary Compensation: $15.00 - 16.26 Department: Special Education Start Date: 05/25/2026 About this opportunity: The role of Department Secretary is a full-time, on-campus staff position supporting the Department of Special Education. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the United States without employer sponsorship. What you'll do and what you'll bring: Position Function: Provide administrative support for the Department of Special Education Duties / Responsibilities: 1. Provide primary administrative support; manage departmental email account, schedule meetings, maintain/update email distribution lists, draft and distribute departmental communications including meeting agendas, minutes, and surveys. Compile and maintain data for departmental tracking and reporting purposes. 2. Coordinate departmental events; schedule, plan, reserve space, and arrange catering. 3. Oversee and process departmental course permissions as requested by faculty. Monitor and process faculty grade change requests in accordance with university policies. 4. Monitor, maintain, and order office related inventory/stock; office supplies, furniture, instructional equipment, and promotional materials. Monitor and schedule maintenance for office equipment. 5. Support the management of tracking and documenting continuing education units (CEU’s) earned by students each semester. 6. Provide assistance for preparing and collecting syllabi, letters, curriculum vitae, instructional agreements, and research materials for all faculty. 7. Manage and maintain the department’s Canvas webpage by regularly updating course materials, announcements, schedules, and resources to ensure accuracy and accessibility. 8. Assign and review work, orient, supervise and train student employees, make recommendations in all areas related to supervision, including but not limited to interviewing and selection, discipline, performance appraisal and training. 9. Work closely with the Administrative Coordinator to support departmental operations and provide back-up support. 10. Perform other related duties as assigned. 11. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
