Job description
Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is an educational organization. We offer an academic learning environment integrated with behavior support services for students diagnosed with emotional/behavioral disorder to empower the students in overcoming challenges and creating new stories in their lives. We currently have an anticipated opening for a full-time Health and Physical Education Teacher beginning at the start of the 2026-2027 School Year for our Shamokin Academy.
- *Please note that this position will also provide services to our Pottsville Academy Location.
- Our Pottsville Academy is located at 2075 W.
- Norwegian St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
- JOB GOAL Educate students on how to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles and promote physical fitness.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teach students about the importance of healthy habits Create lesson plans and sports-related activities for students of all physical abilities Monitor student involvement and physical stamina and abilities Organize team activities to promote student cooperation and problem-solving Adhere to district and school curriculum pacing and standards Initiate and maintain communications with parents and guardians Maintain and care for sports equipment Regularly communicate with peers and administration about student needs and curriculum Act as a mentor and motivator for all students Take attendance and monitor student absences Perform other duties as assigned by Administration.
Qualifications
Minimum BA in Physical Education. Pennsylvania Physical Education and Health Teaching Certification. Ability to monitor and direct large groups of students in physical activity. Knowledge of rules and regulations for numerous sports and physical activities. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage teams of students in physical activities. Ability to effectively communicate with parents, faculty, staff, and administration regarding student progress and needs. Basic computer literacy. Utilize effective verbal and written expression.
