Job Description

The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining a productive and positive classroom environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The Substitute Teacher follows lesson plans, manages student behavior, and supports student learning while ensuring school policies and procedures are followed. Job

Duties & Responsibilities

Implement lesson plans and classroom activities provided by the regular teacher Maintain classroom order and manage student behavior in accordance with school policies Take attendance and maintain accurate classroom records Provide instruction and assist students with assignments and classroom activities Supervise students throughout the school day to ensure safety and appropriate behavior Adapt to different grade levels, subjects, and classroom environments as assigned Communicate effectively with school staff and administration regarding classroom needs or concerns Leave detailed notes for the regular teacher regarding lesson completion, student behavior, and any incidents Enforce school rules, procedures, and emergency protocols Support a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment Assist with classroom transitions, dismissal, lunch, and other assigned duties as needed Maintain professionalism and confidentiality regarding students and school operations Skills & Qualifications Strong classroom management and communication skills Ability to adapt quickly and work independently Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities Ability to engage and supervise students effectively Professional demeanor and reliability Basic computer and instructional technology skills preferred High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred Must meet all state and school substitute teacher certification or clearance requirements QualificationsSkills & Qualifications Strong classroom management and communication skills Ability to adapt quickly and work independently Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities Ability to engage and supervise students effectively Professional demeanor and reliability Basic computer and instructional technology skills preferred High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred Must meet all state and school substitute teacher certification or clearance requirements
