The Special Education Assistant will play a key role in providing administrative support and facilitating the smooth operation of our special education department and the assistant to the Director of Special Services. The successful candidate will assist special education administrators, teachers, and support staff in managing administrative tasks, coordinating services, and ensuring compliance with special education laws and regulations. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and service providers.
Compliance Management Monitor systems to ensure that schools are in 100% legal compliance for all mandated special services and all IEPs, and 504 plans are implemented with fidelity and are authentically a part of the scholar's academic experience. Create Special Education teachers’ caseload for the school year. Ensure Special Education teachers secure and upload Teacher Reports, Related Service Provider Reports, Conduct Vocational Assessments, and draft IEPs in SESIS at least 10 days prior to the IEP meeting. Monitor adherence to Special Services Grading Policy Ensure regular progress monitoring of IEP goals and the timely collection and distribution of Quarterly Progress reports.
Family and Community Engagement Support the work of our Family and Community Partnership team by attending and meaningfully engaging in family nights, report card nights and occasional work events outside of normally scheduled work hours. Respond to correspondence from families, school leaders, culture teams and teachers within 24 business hours. Be a campus-wide model in setting and upholding clear expectations and building strong relationships with staff, students, and families. Other duties as assigned.
