Job Description

The successful candidate will provide Mathematics instruction to students who are preparing to take their GED exam in the area of mathematics. Areas of Mathematics instruction include Basic Math, Geometry, Basic Algebra, and Graphs and Functions. Position will also be required to prepare effective weekly lesson plans for traditional and non-traditional students who attend their classes. Tracking of student progress is required, as well as the ability to provide constructive and effective feedback to students and to support them in educational goals and progress. This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered. Key Responsibilities Effective communication and instruction of mathematics curriculum; flexible teaching methods that can adapt to different learning styles of students; ability to create effective and adaptable lesson plans that meet the needs of mathematics learners; Planning on mapping out educational goals for each learner as well as tracking progress of each student; Regular communication and engagement with students as well as other administrative staff in the Adult Education program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Mathematics or Mathematics Instruction or a closely related field.
  • Strong background, experience, and/or education in Mathematics, particularly in the areas of Basic Math, Algebra, Geometry, and Graphs & Functions.
  • Prior knowledge or experience in providing educational instruction or tutoring.
  • Understanding of effective classroom management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MA/MS in Mathematics or Mathematics Instruction or a closely related field.
  • Prior teaching experience in Mathematics.
  • Prior teaching experience with GED students.
  • Working with non-traditional or underserved students.

Additional Information

Salary will be between $50,000 and $55,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
