Part-Time; 2 days a week Reporting Functions: Reports to Principal Job Function: To develop each student's understanding of the relationship between good body function and exercise; to motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness, hygienic habits, and good social and emotional adjustment; to discover and develop talents of student in physical achievement; to develop strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each student's ability. ****NOTE: APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT A TEACHER APPLICATION, COVER LETTER, AND RESUME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.

Duties and Responsibilities

Design and implement PE classes for Kindergarten to 8th Grade students that expose them to a variety of activities, games, and sports; emphasize activities that promote lifelong physical fitness and promote teamwork and good sportsmanship. Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythm, and dance, and individual, dual, or team sports, utilizing appropriate learning activities. Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, game rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement. Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of pupils. Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property. Selects and requisitions uniforms, equipment, and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records. Establishes and maintains standards of students behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas. Evaluates each student's growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team sports. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by Immaculate Conception School and/or in self-selected professional growth activities. Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field. PA Teacher certification in Health and Physical Education. Previous teaching experience preferred. Other Requirements: Thorough understanding of the curricular elements of Physical Education, and a general knowledge of high school Physical Education curriculum. PRIOR TO INTERVIEW: Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (at least 1 year old.) Physical Demands: Must be in good physical shape to do this job with the ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time. Working Conditions: Normal school environment; may have exposure to outside elements. Part-time; 2 days a week, Wednesday (Middle School) and Thursday (Elementary); School hours are 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. May be required to work beyond normal school hours to attend various meetings, school events, and retreats.
