The Math Tutor provides academic support and mentorship to teens, making mathematics approachable and engaging. They are also responsible for leading enrichment activities and building positive relationships to boost student confidence.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and experience facilitating academic instruction for youth requiring intervention. A bachelor's degree in Education and certification in mathematics are preferred.

The Math Tutor supports students’ academic growth while also serving as a positive, engaging mentor. The Tutor helps make math approachable, encouraging, and fun. When academic support is not in session, the Tutor actively engages with students through games, conversations, and enrichment activities, building strong relationships, boosting confidence, and creating a welcoming space where youth feel supported and motivated to learn. Tutors may also take on leadership responsibilities, support junior staff, and contribute ideas that enhance program activities and student engagement. Math Tutors report directly to the Site Coordinator. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES: Experience working with youth needing academic support or intervention. Strong classroom or group management skills in youth programs. Ability to lead engaging academic activities and encourage positive study habits. Willingness to learn age-appropriate curriculum aligned with HIDOE standards. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills; customer service oriented. Experience working with teens in areas like recreation, leadership, service learning, and college/career readiness. Demonstrates sound judgment, maturity, and decision-making. Collaborative, flexible, and open to youth-led programming, even outside personal expertise. Leads by example with professionalism and integrity. Builds positive, inclusive relationships with diverse youth and staff. Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva (preferred); able to learn new platforms as needed.
