Job description

Position Overview

  • The Early Head Start Teacher at Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center is responsible for delivering a nurturing, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate curriculum for infants and toddlers. This role involves fostering a safe and supportive environment that encourages learning through play, exploration, and discovery, aligned with Head Start Program Performance Standards and the organization's guidelines.

  • Responsibilities: Plan and implement individualized lesson plans that support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment adhering to health and safety requirements. Observe, document, and assess children's developmental progress regularly using electronic portfolios. Collaborate with families to engage them in their child’s educational journey through communication, home visits, and family conferences. Support inclusion by implementing Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and collaborating with specialists as needed. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities. Demonstrate flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends as required.

Qualifications

Possession of a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential with Infant-Toddler Endorsement is required. Experience working in center or home-based childcare programs is required; experience with Early Head Start or Head Start programs is preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficiency in using computers at a beginner to intermediate level. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with children, families, and team members.
