Position Summary
As a Child Care Teacher, your kind and patient demeanor paired with your strong ability to communicate and lead are key factors in the successful development and learning of students. Key Responsibilities: Creates an environment that supports children's growth and development. Uses the curriculum to provide weekly plans and objectives which meet individual as well as group needs. Maintains accurate individual records for each child and uses them to set goals for individual children. Establishes and achieves annual goals for classroom. Ensures the safety of the children and promotes good health habits. Effectively guides children's behavior in an age appropriate and positive manner. Develops and maintains a positive relationship with all children and their families. Communicates appropriately with families regarding childrens daily activities verbally and written as needed. Supervises and guides assistant teachers and volunteers and makes appropriate recommendations for performance appraisals. Constructively participates in staff meetings, and meetings with supervisor. Meets the physical, social, cognitive, emotional and cultural needs of individual children. Attends a minimum of 15 hours of training each year. Conferences with parents effectively and appropriately. Works with colleagues and community representatives to support children and families.
Minimum Qualifications
Teacher for preschoolers Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Development or related field AND no additional experience necessary OR Child Development Associate credential or other office recognized credential specific to the preschool developmental period AND one year experience related to caring for children OR 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field with a plan of study leading to a: Child Development Associate credential OR Associates Degree in Early Childhood,Child Development or a related field AND Two years experience related to caring for children Group Teacher for infants/toddlers Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field AND One year experience related to caring for infants and toddlers OR Infant and Toddler Child Care and Education credential; or Infant Toddler Child Development Associate credential; or Other Office-recognized credential specific to the infant/toddler developmental period AND Two years’ experience related to caring for children OR 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field, with a plan of study leading to: Infant and Toddler Child Care and Education credential; or Infant Toddler Child Development Associate credential; or Other office recognized credential specific to the infant/toddler developmental period; or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Child Development or a related field AND Two years’ experience related to caring for children, one of which must be related to caring for infants and toddlers Group Teacher for school-age children Associates degree or Bachelor’s in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field AND No additional experience required OR School-age Child Care credential or other Office recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental period AND One year experience working with children less than 13 years of age OR High School Diploma or its equivalent AND Two years direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age Required Licensure/Certification Skills: None. PAY RANGE: $17.50 - $21.58 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14626 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
