The Teacher's Aide supports the implementation of a child-centered curriculum and ensures the health and safety of children through close supervision. They are responsible for preparing materials, maintaining a clean classroom, and collaborating with teachers and therapists.
Candidates must be at least 19 years old with a high school diploma or GED. Some college coursework in early childhood education is preferred.
Under the direction of the teacher, the teacher’s aide will aid in implementing a developmentally appropriate, child-centered curriculum which encourages learning through exploration and discovery and promotes the development of a positive self-image. The teacher’s aide will model positive social interactions and language. The teacher’s aide will implement positive class management techniques and strategies. All practices the teacher’s aide uses must be consistent with guidelines put forth by Bank Street College and the New York City Department of Health /Bureau of Day Care.
Pay rate: $20-$25 per hour
