  • Summary: The Reading Interventionist is a highly qualified educator who provides intensive reading instruction to students who are struggling to meet grade-level reading standards. The Reading Interventionist will work closely with classroom teachers, reading specialists, and other school staff to identify and address the reading needs of elementary students. The primary goal is to improve the reading skills of students who are at risk of falling behind their peers and to help them become proficient readers. Work with teachers with RSA requirements and assist with all state reporting documentation.

Responsibilities

Provide individual and small-group reading instruction to students who are identified as needing intensive reading support. Conduct comprehensive reading assessments to identify student strengths and weaknesses, and develop targeted interventions based on assessment results. Develop and implement evidence-based reading instructional programs and materials, including phonics-based instruction, comprehension strategies, and vocabulary development. Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement integrated reading instruction plans that align with state standards and curriculum requirements. Provide ongoing support and coaching to classroom teachers on effective reading instruction practices. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, goals, and recommendations for continued support. Participate in staff development opportunities to stay current with best practices in reading instruction. Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and interventions. Participate in school-wide initiatives and projects focused on improving student reading outcomes.

Requirements

Master's degree in Education or related field (Special Education or Reading Education preferred). Valid teaching certification or equivalent (e.g., reading specialist certification). Experience working with elementary-age students who are struggling with reading. Strong knowledge of phonics-based instruction, comprehension strategies, and vocabulary development. Ability to assess student reading skills and develop targeted interventions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents. Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with data-driven instruction and assessment. Knowledge of state standards and curriculum requirements for elementary reading education. Bilingual or multilingual abilities. Physical Demands: The Reading Interventionist will be required to: Sit for extended periods of time Use computer software for data entry and record-keeping Move around the classroom or school as needed Lift or move materials (e.g., books, papers) Work Environment: The Reading Interventionist will work primarily in an elementary school setting, with occasional travel to other school sites or district offices as needed.
