Job description
Overview A warm and welcoming family based in El Segundo is seeking a temp-part-time/ ongoing nanny for their son, who will be approximately 20 months old at the start of the role in July. The position will begin in a part-time capacity a few times per week, with guaranteed weekend hours through September (the family will guarantee at least 10 hours per week), with a view to transitioning into a more involved temporary 24/7 support role for approximately one week surrounding the arrival of the family’s second child (due September 22, though will likely arrive a few weeks earlier). This is an excellent opportunity for a flexible, proactive, and experienced nanny seeking a role with long-term potential following the newborn transition period.
Responsibilities
Provide attentive, nurturing care for a 20-month-old toddler Handle daycare drop-off and pick-up Monday through Friday Support the child’s daily routines, meals, playtime, and bedtime as needed Be available on-call during daycare hours in case early pickup is required Assist with child-related household tasks while the child is at daycare, including: Tidying up common areas and play spaces Laundry support Provide around-the-clock childcare support for approximately one week when the family welcomes their second child Maintain open communication with parents and adapt to the family’s evolving needs
Qualifications
Prior professional nanny experience with toddlers required Experience supporting families during the newborn transition period strongly preferred Comfortable working flexible and evolving schedules Reliable, organized, and proactive personality Strong communication skills and a warm, engaging caregiving style Ability to manage both childcare and light household support independently
Requirements
Must ideally be available to begin in July in order to establish a relationship with the toddler leading up to the arrival of his sibling in September Ability to commit to guaranteed weekend hours from July through September Availability for up to 30 hours per week, if desired Flexibility to work in a temporary 24/7 capacity for approximately one week around the birth of the family’s second child (due on or around Sept 22nd) Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for daycare drop-off and pick-up Must be legally authorized to work in the United States Salary and Benefits Compensation: $40–45/hour, depending on experience Guaranteed (minimum) 10 hours weekly on either Saturday or Sunday from July through September Paid for all 24 hours during the temporary live-in/24-7 support period Opportunity for continued part-time/ad hoc work following the initial assignment, based on mutual fit
