Job Description

The Cultural Health Navigator will support Indigenous patients and their families to ensure that their cultural health is supported while within the inpatient environment at Essentia Health. This role will be a subject expert in Indigenous cultural health and serve as a point person for these issues within Essentia. Education

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities: Providing cultural knowledge, resources, and support for cultural and spiritual well-being, and assisting patients as they navigate their health care experience in an inpatient setting Facilitating connections between patients and the local Indigenous community Collaborating with the care team to ensure that patients' spiritual and cultural needs are honored Consulting with Essentia colleagues on culturally appropriate care and best practices Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications: Understanding of the region’s tribal, cultural, and spiritual traditions Previous experience in advocating for the needs of Indigenous people and building relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and tribal governments

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in healthcare, social services, education, or criminal justice settings Licensure/Certification
