Overview
We are seeking a Temporary HR Coordinator to support core HR operations during a transition period. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality administrative support and ensuring consistent execution of employee lifecycle processes.
This position is primarily transactional and service-oriented, serving as a key point of contact for HR-related inquiries while maintaining data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
Duration: 3–6 months with potential extension
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–3+ years of administrative or HR coordination experience
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong customer service mindset and communication skills
- Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education or similarly structured organizations
- Familiarity with HR operations and compliance-driven processes
- Experience supporting onboarding and employee record management
- Exposure to audit support or process documentation
Compensation is determined based on the qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for new employees to start near the top of the salary range. The hourly pay range for this position is $18.00 to $24.00.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide front-line HR support by managing shared inboxes, phones, and general employee inquiries
- Execute employee lifecycle transactions, including onboarding, job changes, and offboarding
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS
- Process and track HR documentation in accordance with compliance and recordkeeping requirements
- Coordinate onboarding logistics, including new hire paperwork, system access, and orientation scheduling
- Facilitate I-9 verification, background checks, and other required pre-employment processes
- Partner with Payroll and Talent Acquisition to ensure smooth and timely processing of employee data
- Assist with reporting, audits, and documentation preparation to support compliance efforts
- Support HR communications and administrative coordination across the department
- Identify and escalate process issues while contributing to documentation and process improvements
