Job description
Summary
Meets with students individually or in small groups to provide academic support related to course content, course-related readings and course-related written assignments so students can successfully complete their coursework; as well as provides instruction, teaching and guidance in the area of academic success skills
- Essential Job Functions
- Tutors students on specific course content, course-related readings and course-related written assignments
- Tutors students in the area of academic success skills (e.g. learning strategies, time management, etc.)
- Coordinates tutoring goals with advisers, academic counselors and faculty to effectively meet student needs
- Attends tutor training sessions and staff meetings, as applicable
- Administers individualized tests to students with accommodations
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in English or a related field (ex: creative writing, composition, communications)
- Ability to tutor courses such as rhetoric & composition and communication skills, as well as provide planning and drafting guidance for any course with writing-based assignments
- Ability to work daytime hours on weekdays and work on occasional weekends for special events
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience tutoring or teaching students
