Duties

Uses approved instrument to provide developmental screening within their native language, assessment and evaluation for birth to three children as part of a multidisciplinary team to determine eligibility. Demonstrates competence in interpreting results of screening and evaluation in terms of the child’s functional capabilities with an emphasis on self-help skills, fine and gross motor development, mobility, sensory integration, behavior, play and oral-motor functioning and explains results to families in a mindful manner incorporating health literacy. Creates adaptation of the environment for infants or toddlers and selects, designs and fabricates assistive devices to facilitate development and promote the acquisition of functional skills with respect to the family’s culture and traditions. Develops and implements appropriate treatment plan (IFSP) with the family and EI team. Develops therapeutic activities and programs to prevent or minimize the impact of initial or future impairment, delay in development or loss of functional ability. Actively includes family throughout the entire evaluation/assessment and IFSP process. Works as member of a team to gather and organize information from multiple sources to plan an individualized evaluation/assessment and IFSP. Coordinates and maintains partnership with the family consistent communication with EI team, medical and community contacts in a professional, inclusive, compliant, and timely manner.
