1 academic and personal support to a student with disabilities to help them achieve IEP goals in an inclusive classroom. Assist the lead teacher with classroom organization and support the student's daily living and therapy needs.
Requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of the Teacher Assistant Training program, and passing the ParaPro test. Candidates must be able to lift up to 90 lbs with assistance and meet all DCYF and Department of Education requirements.
Individualized Student Support: Work 1:1 with an assigned student to provide personal and academic support, implementing accommodations and modifications based on the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). Classroom Assistance: Assist the lead teacher with implementing developmentally appropriate programs, setting up learning centers, preparing materials, and organizing the classroom environment.
Assist in documenting the student's progress and daily activities as required by the teacher or IEP team. Peripheral
Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and order of the classroom. Support in toileting and feeding as needed, including hand-over-hand assistance. Order classroom supplies and assist with meal preparation if requested. Participate in school-wide meetings and professional development sessions. Follow procedures and directives as set by the teacher or school administration. Qualifications / Requirements: Education: High school diploma, GED, or an associate degree in a related field.

Ability to reinforce therapies and strategies, including gross and fine motor skills. Knowledge of and experience with positive behavioral support techniques. CPR Certification (Pursuing Cert.). Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency transportation requirements. Meet all DCYF and Department of Education requirements for working in a school. Ability to lift independently up to 50 lbs. and up to 90 lbs. with assistance. Stand for 70% of the workday, with frequent kneeling, bending, and stooping. Physical capability to assist students with mobility challenges, including pushing and pulling.
