Job description

  • An Occupational Therapist 2 consistently provides effective direct care to a variety of complex patients.
  • In doing so the Therapist acts as a role model and supervisor for junior staff and helps identify patients who have unmet occupational therapy needs.
  • A Therapist is focused on expanding clinical knowledge and skills beyond the entry level and sharing this knowledge through in-services and participates as an active member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • The Therapist acts as a role model and may supervise other staff.
  • This level of therapist seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice and begins to assume a leadership role receiving mentoring in this process.
  • Therapists at this level may be asked to contribute to performance appraisals.
  • Performs occupational therapy evaluations according to professional standards and departmental guidelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of intervention options and executes a program of skilled occupational therapy intervention.
  • Actively participates in professional growth of self and others.
  • Actively participates in quality improvement and program development.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Licensure

Licensed to practice in Occupational Therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. New grads must be licensed within 6 months of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Physical demands

Job requires frequently bending/stooping/traveling (distance

½ mile). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 – 50lbs.
