Rate of pay
$15.00 – $20.00. Final compensation is based on factors such as the skills, qualifications, and experience.
A Program Specialist for youth sports is responsible for teaching and coaching children in various sports, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. The instructor helps kids develop fundamental skills, understand the rules of the sport, and fosters a positive, inclusive environment where children can enjoy learning and playing sports. This role involves planning and executing age-appropriate activities and drills, ensuring safety, and motivating young athletes to perform to the best of their abilities.
Essential Functions
- 1.
- Lead youth sports classes, teaching basic skills and techniques in various sports (e.g., soccer, basketball, baseball).
- 2.
- Demonstrate proper techniques and provide constructive feedback.
- 3.
- Ensure that each child participates actively and develops a love for physical activity.
- 4.
- Monitor the safety of all participants during practices, games, and activities.
- 5.
- Ensure that sports equipment is properly maintained and safe for use.
- 6.
- Enforce safety rules and ensure children follow instructions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
- Previous experience in coaching, teaching, or working with children in a recreational or sports setting (1-2 years preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Multi-lingual skills
- Additional qualifications specific to each program (such as certifications or degrees in dance, sports, or education)
