SUMMARY: The hourly Instructional Assistant pay rate to work on assignment in West Shore School District is $17.56 per hour The Instructional Assistant position will work on all student days during the school calendar year, 6 paid hours per day on full school days The Instructional Assistant will assist the reading specialist and the classroom teacher by working with individual students or small groups to further reinforce skills initially introduced by teachers. CURRENT NEED: Hillside Elementary School (9:00am - 3:30pm, 30-minute unpaid lunch break) PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs the following tasks: efficient use of office productivity applications; proofreading; formulating lists using database; filing in a five-drawer file cabinet; standing to operate copier and collate materials, distributing materials, and carrying up to ten reams of paper or the equivalent Assists the reading specialist and/or classroom teacher in implementing literacy strategies for reinforcing materials or skills taught based on the needs and abilities of all student Works with individual students or small groups of students, as scheduled, to reinforce reading skills initially introduced by the reading specialist or classroom teacher Reads and correctly interprets written materials and performs accurate math computations related to the function of the position Assists with textbook inventory as necessary, as well as assessment materials EDUCATION / EXPRIENCE: High school diploma Possesses or eligible to possess “Qualified” status Prior public-school experience and/or working with school-aged children in a licensed, certified, or registered provider setting - preferred CREDENTIALING : (Clearances current within 12 months) PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearance PA Department of Education FBI – Use code 1KG6XN TB Screening - current within 3 months Education Documentation - Diploma OR Official Transcripts
