Description The CO-OP Program Assistant role is designed for high school students seeking hands-on experience in youth development, education, and leadership. This position supports the daily operations of Gathering Outreach’s afterschool programs by assisting staff, engaging with students, and helping create a safe, structured, and positive environment. This role provides an opportunity to develop professional skills while gaining real-world experience working with elementary-aged students.
Schedule & Pay Monday–Friday | 3: 30 PM – 6:30 PM Part-Time (Afterschool Hours) Weekly Pay School-Year Based Opportunity
Student Engagement & Support Assist with supervising elementary students during afterschool activities Support homework time, group activities, and enrichment programs Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive environment Encourage student participation and positive behavior Program Support Assist staff with preparing materials for activities and events Help organize supplies and maintain activity areas Support transitions between program segments (snack, homework, activities) Assist with daily program routines and procedures
Administrative & Team Support Support basic administrative tasks such as organizing materials and supplies Assist with check-in/check-out processes when needed Help maintain organization of student and program records (as directed) Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors Events & Operations Assist with event setup and breakdown Support community and family engagement activities Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of program spaces Participate in team meetings or trainings as required
Preferred (Not Required) Interest in becoming a teacher, coach, or mentor Previous volunteer or school-based experience with children Participation in leadership programs or student organizations Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage with students Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs (with assistance if needed) Ability to participate in indoor and outdoor activities Work Environment Fast-paced, team-oriented afterschool setting Elementary school campuses and program facilities Supportive and growth-focused environment Program Mission Alignment
