The substitute staff member will supervise students, facilitate recreational and academic activities, and ensure a safe, positive environment. They are also responsible for assisting with check-in procedures and maintaining the cleanliness of program areas.

Essential Responsibilities
Supervise and engage students in a safe and positive environment.
Assist with student check-in, attendance, and dismissal procedures.
Support homework assistance and academic enrichment activities.
Facilitate games, recreational activities, arts and crafts, and other enrichment experiences.
Encourage positive behavior while reinforcing program expectations.
Build respectful and supportive relationships with students, families, and staff.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned program areas.
Follow all Gathering Outreach Community Services policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Respond appropriately to emergencies and communicate concerns to program leadership.
Perform other duties as assigned to support program operations.
Substitute Team Members are scheduled on an as-needed basis. Assignments may be planned in advance or requested with short notice depending on staffing needs. Availability does not guarantee work hours.
Compensation is based on the approved hourly rate for substitute staff and is paid only for hours worked. Assignments are offered based on organizational needs and substitute availability.

Applicants should possess a passion for working with children and creating a safe, positive, and engaging environment for elementary-aged students.
Current or former school district substitute teacher.
Current or former paraprofessional, instructional aide, or classroom assistant.
Experience working in childcare, after-school programs, summer camps, youth development, recreation, or mentoring programs.
College student pursuing a degree in education, child development, psychology, social work, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Demonstrated ability to supervise and positively engage groups of children.
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Dependable, professional, and able to adapt to changing staffing needs.
Ability to pass all required background screenings and complete all onboarding requirements before beginning work.
Must be available to work weekday afternoons as assignments become available.
