Job description

The WSYMCA is seeking enthusiastic Facility Monitors to join our team at our Church St and Wells Ave locations!

Position summary

To oversee athletic facilities, including participants and equipment, as well as assisting with sports classes. To ensure that emphasis in Y sports programs is always on participation, inclusion, fun and fair play. Our facility monitors and sports assistants will foster skill development, promote exercise and health, and instill values that will lead to a positive experience in sports.

Essential functions

Arrives to scheduled shifts at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled start.

Responsible for supervision of indoor gymnasium/track and outdoor field and track, as well as all equipment.

Maintain participant and spectator safety at all times.

Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.)

Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.

Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.

Adhere to and enforce all rules of Gym/Track and Track/Field.

The principal objective will be to conduct the program in a manner that will fulfill the YMCA’s mission.

Assist with gym programs when necessary-set up/break down of equipment, allow access to equipment for authorized personnel.

Willingness to accept responsibilities and duties other than those assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum age of 15.

Certifications

CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid.

Experience in sports as both a player and coach/instructor.

Flexible schedule in the afternoon, evening and weekends preferred.

Physical Demands

Sufficient strength, agility, mobility and endurance to run up and down a full sized basketball court.

Climbing, crouching, standing, sitting on floor, kneeling, carrying (50 lbs), pushing, lifting (50 lbs), running and walking.
