Description New Canaan Country School, a Pre-K through Grade 9 co-ed, independent day school, serves approximately 570 students from diverse backgrounds living in 18 different towns/cities across Fairfield and Westchester counties. Responsibilities

Conduct a standard load (typically 4) of French courses in Grades 7-9, including planning, instruction, assessment, and reporting as well as being accessible and available to students for support during designated times Potentially teach a section of Grade 7 Spanish Serve as an advisor to a group of Upper School students within a grade-level advisory team Serve as head or assistant coach to Upper School teams in 2 seasons Fulfill additional student-facing responsibilities of Upper School faculty member including recess, study hall, clubs and multi-day trips Engage in faculty meetings and professional development programs at department, team, division and whole school levels

Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Relevant experience teaching and assessing student learning in Grades 7-9 Ability to teach middle and high school French; the equivalent of French I, II & III. Ability to also teach middle school Spanish is preferred Ability to connect with students at the middle school age level (12-15 years old) Competencies Finds joy in working with 12- to 15-year-old students Differentiates instruction for a range of learning styles and abilities Communicates well verbally and in writing Is collaborative Is organized Demonstrates a commitment to professional growth Demonstrates cultural competency
