Job Description & Qualifications: Job Summary The primary purpose of the Sign Language Interpreting in Education (SLIE) Instructional Assistant is to support faculty in preparing learners to become licensed American Sign Language interpreters for educational settings serving students in grades K–12.
The Instructional Assistant provides instructional, technological, and administrative support for face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning environments.
Responsibilities include developing and organizing instructional materials, assisting with course preparation, supporting classroom and online technologies, facilitating learner engagement, and contributing to a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student success.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Create instructional materials, presentations, learning activities, and course resources under the direction of the faculty member.
Assist with the preparation and organization of course materials, assignments, and instructional resources.
Support learners during face-to-face, hybrid, and remote class sessions and learning activities.
Assist with instructional technology, classroom technology, and learning management systems used within the program.
Provide basic technical support and troubleshooting for students participating in face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses.
Assist with the setup, operation, and management of video, recording, and virtual meeting technologies used for instruction, student practice, and assessment.
Assist faculty with online course development, preparation, and maintenance.
Support learners with hands-on activities, skill development exercises, and program-related learning experiences.
Assist with facilitating student engagement and participation in classroom and online learning environments.
Provide online support for program courses and learning activities as directed by faculty.
Assist in monitoring classroom and Open Lab activities to promote a productive and supportive learning environment.
Maintain confidentiality of student information, records, and instructional materials in accordance with college policies and applicable regulations.
Participate in staff meetings, team planning activities, professional development opportunities, and advisory committee meetings as schedules allow.
Contribute to student success by fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
