Elementary Physical Education Teacher: Member of the Specials Team in Elementary

Position Summary

The position of an Elementary Physical Education (Specials Teacher) is to oversee the specified content area and other assigned duties.

Position qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Physical Education state certification
• Classroom teaching experience preferred
• Creative and energetic
• Have a thorough understanding of the nature and development of school-age students

Instructional program

• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and promote enthusiasm for learning
• Adhere to the standards written for physical education
• Keep equipment clean and properly stored
• Assess and record students’ progress for grades
• Communicate, consult, and co-operate with other members of the Specials Team
• Maintain good order and discipline among students under one’s care and safeguard their health and safety at all times
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
• Participate in staff, group, or other meetings related to the school
• Communicate necessary information to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress, behavior, and student needs
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for learning activities
• Participate in appropriate professional development and activities
• Attend and participate in chapel and other spiritual activities presented by the administration and campus pastor
• Fulfill other duties as assigned

Essential duties and responsibilities

The following are the responsibilities of this position in relation to

• Set up, tear down, and supervise Morning Fit Club
• Work afternoon carline
• Collaborate with administration concerning iDismiss and carline tags
• Collaborate concerning House Meetings for grades 3-5
• Plan, organize and run field day

Spiritual leadership

• Act as the spiritual leader of school and community
• Show evidence of a consistent time of personal Bible study, prayer and outreach
• Maintain a Christ-like attitude

Budgeting

• To turn in a proposal for the needs of their respective classes to the Grade Level Chair
• To ensure that receipts are kept and turned into the Elementary Secretary, or appropriate administrator for all approved expenditures

Community

• To lead their respective division in maintaining a positive Christian witness both in the school and in the community
• To present the school and its program in a positive manner to the community

Evaluation

The Elementary PE (Specials Teacher) will be evaluated by the Elementary Administrators each year. This evaluation will be based on the functions and responsibilities outlined in this job description.
