Position: Head Start Lead Teacher
Starting Date: August 2026-2027 (187-day calendar)

Mon.-Fri. 8: 00-4:00
To facilitate the social, emotional, mental, and physical development of children. To be a team member in developing learning centers and lesson plans to focus on children’s individual needs.
Organize the classroom environment and plan hands on activities to promote language, social/emotional, fine motor, and gross motor, cognitive and self-help development. Utilize equipment and materials to carry out program objectives which include art, literature, music, self-awareness, motor and science.
Relate to high-risk families and their children. Develop communication skills to ensure appropriate quality services to parents and staff. Develop professional relationships with families and encourage them to participate in the program.
Essential Physical Functions: · Bending/stooping/squatting
· Lifting up to 40lbs-moving furniture or lifting children
· Sitting in 12” chairs and sitting on the floor for 15–20-minute spans with legs folded.
· Must be able to quickly move around the classroom or playground to ensure safety of children-including being able to get up from a sitting position quickly to assist a child.
· Model physical activities for children such as running, hopping, jumping, skipping, galloping, throwing/catching/dribbling balls, etc.
1. At lease an associate degree in Early Childhood. Prefer bachelor’s degree in early childhood.
2. Experience working in an early childhood classroom – Head Start specific experience is preferred.
3. Prefer bi-lingual English/Spanish candidate-able to read and write in both languages also.
4. Pre-employment physical and TB skin test is required.
5. Background Check required including fingerprint.
