Kindergarten Teacher Assistant

Description PURPOSE OF JOB Support the Teacher with providing effective instruction to students in all areas. Work effectively with school personnel, students, parents and community members. Be cognizant of all state and district requirements in serving the needs of students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

• Instructional Support Ensures assigned classes meet and receive instruction in the designated locations and times.
• Leads the class instructionally when required.
• Aids in the preparation of assigned classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Utilizes a variety of instructional techniques and media, tailored to the physical location and the diverse capabilities of the students.
• Reinforces the school’s philosophy of education and instructional goals through daily actions and instruction.
• Curriculum & Lesson Planning Contributes to planning a program of study that aligns with individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
• Helps guide the learning process toward curriculum goals by establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Coordinates and supervises purposeful assignments for volunteers while collaborating with department heads.
• Classroom Environment & Student Conduct Fosters a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Encourages students to set and maintain positive standards of classroom behavior.
• Assists the administration in fairly and justly implementing school policies and rules governing student conduct.
• Student Progress, Assessment, & Intervention Monitors student accomplishments on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
• Confers with and seeks assistance from school administrators regarding potential student learning disabilities.
• Collaborates with the designated team to plan and determine appropriate interventions for student needs.
• Administration & Safety Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations.
• Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities while maintaining safe practices.
• Communication, & Collaboration Maintains availability to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when reasonably requested.
• Strives to continuously improve professional competence.
• Attends mandatory staff meetings and serves on designated committees.
• Other Duties Handles other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred) Hold or be eligible for Missouri Teaching or Substitute Teacher Certificate Experience in a K-5 setting Effective human relations and communication skills REPORTS TO: K-2 Principal

$35,000.00
