  • Range: $17,500.00 - $22,000.00St. John Paul II Academy - High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, is seeking to hire a qualified Health Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The desired applicant will be able to provide engaging instruction, possess a high level of content mastery, and be experienced at teaching the high school level. This is a part-time position.

In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.

Responsibilities

The list below reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the primary functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job. As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic church Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed Plans for successful student learning of daily objectives that include basic knowledge and skills, and central concepts of the discipline Ensures students are engaged and successful in learning, critical thinking, and problem solving Able to effectively manage time and materials Maintains current records for student grades and progress Able to provide engaging instruction, possess a high level of content mastery, and be experienced at teaching high school-level health Perform other duties as assigned QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology or health science or a Bachelor’s Degree plus 24 hours in kinesiology or health science content 12 credit hours in education are required or the appropriate state certification Valid Texas Driver's License required Must be at least 21 years of age Special Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of curriculum and instruction in their area of certification Knowledge of effective instructional strategies, assessment strategies, and motivational strategies that promote authentic student engagement Planning and organization skills Effective oral and written communications skills with students and adults Ability to effectively embed available technology into daily lesson plans Additional Requirements: Must submit to required pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle check record check (MVR), and drug screening Complete certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources Requires adherence to all diocesan policies and procedures Mental/Physical Demands: Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress Maintain confidentiality ***In order to be considered for employment with the Diocese of Corpus Christi locations, all interested individuals must complete the online application at https://diocesecc.org/human-resources. ***
