The K–6 Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging physical education instruction that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles. The teacher collaborates with colleagues, communicates with families, monitors student progress, and contributes to the school's positive and structured learning environment. Essential Responsibilities Plan and deliver high-quality physical education instruction for students in Kindergarten through Grade 6. Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment. Monitor, assess, and document student progress throughout the school year. Participate in all required professional development activities. Attend and actively participate in grade-level, departmental, staff, and Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) meetings as assigned. Participate in IEP meetings when required. Complete progress reports and report cards in accordance with school expectations. Attend and conduct parent-teacher conferences. Participate in Back-to-School Night, Open Houses, and other school events. Fulfill assigned morning, lunch/recess, and afternoon supervisory duties. Support, enforce, and adhere to all school policies, procedures, and expectations. Perform duties assigned by school leadership, including the School Director, Assistant School Director, Professional Development Coordinator, and other administrators. Collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure student success.
Bachelor's degree required; Massachusetts teaching license preferred. Experience teaching physical education or leading organized youth athletic, recreational, or fitness programs preferred. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Must obtain required Massachusetts educator licensure and pass applicable MTEL examinations within one year of employment.
