Job description

$2,000 sign-on bonus for new Seneca employees in this position!

The Crisis Clinician provides mental health counseling, therapy, and case management services to children. They conduct assessments of needs, safety planning, and crisis intervention as needed. In addition, Crisis Clinicians link the youth to further mental health services if needed, such as Wraparound, psychotherapy, support groups, and other community services.

  • The Welcoming Center is a nurturing, home-like receiving facility dedicated to supporting children and youth in Santa Clara County who face the challenges of placement disruption.
  • Our multi-disciplinary team offers safety, care, comfort, and therapeutic support around the clock, ensuring that young people receive the immediate attention they need, 24/7.
  • We serve young individuals who have recently been removed from their homes, are returning after an elopement, or have experienced a sudden loss of placement.
  • Upon arrival, children and youth are greeted by empathetic and well-trained therapists and counselors.
  • These professionals create a calm and stable environment, carefully assessing each individual's unique needs while working to secure appropriate placement.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the clinical lead and work with the treatment team to provide crisis intervention and other mental health services as needed.
  • Provide counseling, therapy, and case management services to ensure the successful transition of clients and their families to other community-based resources.
  • Participate in all treatment reviews, program staff meetings, and additional meetings when necessary.

  • Coordinate with necessary collateral contacts, including caregivers and family members as needed.
  • Work with treatment team to determine course of action for follow-up services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community members and providers.
  • Participate in on-call system as needed.
  • Complete progress notes and other paperwork, and complete service tracking documentation as indicated.
  • Participate in weekly supervision with the program supervisor or designee.
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings, weekends, and provide on-call coverage as needed.
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's Equilibrium model training. This may include intervening with the clients' behavioral program through physical management of the clients, if applicable. Training in additional crisis intervention modalities such as CPI may be required.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior at all times in accordance with Seneca's mission and philosophy.
  • All other duties as assigned by program and agency leadership.
  • Qualifications

    • Required
    • Master’s degree in social work/psychology/counseling
    • Registered with California BBS: ASW, AMFT, APCC, or full licensed
    • Flexible schedule with the ability to work some evenings and weekend hours as needed
    • Be part of a rotating emergency on-call system, scheduled ahead of time
    • Must be at least 21 years of age
    • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies’ insurance policy
    • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
    • Preferred
    • Bilingual Spanish skill set
    • Experience working with youth and families
    • Skills of an ideal candidate
    • Ability to work with a diverse population
    • Good organizational and writing skills
    • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • Schedule
    • Full-time
    • Wednesday
    • Sunday;10pm- 8am
    • On-call; 1 time per month for 24 hours (7am-7am) on a non-working day
