MUSC Health is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to work in a collegiate setting, with cross-coverage as needed at our other partner schools and/or community sporting events. The Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) reports to the assigned operational leader. The primary responsibilities will be to evaluate, plan, direct, document, and administer programs of athletic training & rehabilitation. Conducts athlete intake assessments and maintains medical records for all athletes in our electronic medical record. Works closely with other disciplines and specialties within the health system to ensure highly coordinated care. Communicates with physicians' other clinical staff. As a MUSC Health brand ambassador, develops trust with coaching staffs, Athletic Directors, student athletes and parents through effective communication and coordinated high quality care. Works closely with the Sports Medicine Coordinator (ATC) to coordinate the athlete's schedule, treatment programs, and recommends solutions to athlete’s healthcare problems. Provides cross-coverage as needed across our division at our partner schools and/or community sporting events. May be required to work in a clinical setting (orthopedics or therapy services). Attends annual conferences and MUSC Health staff meetings. Performs clerical tasks such as assisting with budgets, restocking supplies and maintaining inventory. Other duties as assigned.
Graduate of an accredited college with a BS/BA. (Masters degree in Athletic Training preferred). Certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC) and Licensure as an Athletic Trainer by the SCLLR Board of Medical Examiners. Must be able to adjust communication both verbal and non-verbal to interact appropriately and effectively with a wide variety of age groups including school age adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Weekend and evening hours to cover practices, games, tournaments, and special events.
