Position Summary: Statement:
The Simulation Technician position is a foundational role within the Clinical Simulation Program, primarily responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of simulation technology and equipment. This position plays a key part in ensuring the smooth functioning of the simulation program by assisting with equipment and supply management, maintenance, and facilitation of simulation activities. The role is ideal for individuals with a medical knowledge and technical interest who are keen to contribute to the field of healthcare education through simulation. This position is designed to function under the direction of operational staff and as knowledge and skills are obtained, the role creates the opportunity to progress and advance towards the Simulation Technology Specialist role.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
Associate/technical degree or diploma as LPN, RN, EMT, Medical Assistant, biology, medical technology, or related field.
Two years’ experience in the medical field. Familiarity with technology and audio/visual systems.
Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
Must have a current and valid Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of education and training.
Proficiency in computer use and software applications including Microsoft Office and Internet.
Basic knowledge of/experience using AV equipment and software for recording, duplicating, and playback.
Ability to be flexible/adaptable and to meet rapidly changing needs of department and customers.
Proficient to learn new technology (software and equipment) quickly, troubleshoot and repair equipment failures in a timely fashion.
Self-motivated, reliable, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and customer service.

This is an entry level position with the expectation the individual will be supported from baseline.
Essential duties
1. (60%) – Assists with the facilitation of simulation activities and programs.
2.
Assist with planning, programing, tests, and running scenarios with faculty/educators.
3.
Runs simulation sessions for learners under the direction of the course directors.
4.
Assists with procedural learning/testing sessions.
5.
Runs audiovisual and simulation manikin technology during scenarios.
6.
Assists with simulation scenarios as a standardized patient family member, or other designated role to facilitate achievement of identified scenario objectives.
7.
Creates realistic scenarios & settings through props placement and moulage.
8.
Prepares and manages required paperwork/participant materials before, during and after class.
9.
Assist with the Preventive Maintenance program for internal HP and external customers.
10.
Transports equipment/supplies on & off site for trainings and simulations.
2. (30%) – Facilitates the day-to-day operation of all equipment for the Clinical Simulation program.

Assist with the maintenance of routine and preventative maintenance of equipment.
4.
Conducts cleaning of simulation-based equipment to insure proper operations.
5.
Assist with the installation and implementation of new simulation / AV equipment, software, and hardware upgrades for computer and mannequin components as directed by manufacturer support.
6.
Maintains procedural kits to ensure standardized use to simulate manufacturer standards.
7.
Assist with the maintenance of AV hardware and software systems to record simulated sessions with subsequent editing and transfer into an archived format for analysis.
8.
Identify procedures and best practices to be implemented associated with simulation technology.
9.
Maintains proficiency in existing and emerging technologies and tools.
3. (5%) – Provides instruction to staff, faculty, and participants 4.
Provides instruction to Clinical Simulation staff, faculty and participants on the use and care of simulation, clinical, and AV related equipment.
5.
Provides orientation to equipment and Center to participants, adjunct faculty, and visitors.
6. (5%) – Other duties as assigned (5%) 7.
Expands the field through involvement with national, regional, and local simulation organizations.
8.
Demonstrates the use of simulation equipment to tour groups and/or visitors as directed.
9.
Assist in assorted projects and task with other operational and/or educational staff.
