Trinity Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as the Middle School Girls Basketball Assistant Coach. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for coaching and developing young athletes, as well as a commitment to fostering a positive team culture and promoting sportsmanship. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the athletic program of Trinity Academy and help student-athletes grow both on and off the court. Key Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the varsity basketball program, including practices, matches, and off-season development. Support and reinforce a culture of teamwork, sportsmanship, and Christ-centered leadership among student-athletes. Help develop and implement training programs focused on skill development, strength, conditioning, and basketball fundamentals. Assist with game preparation, scouting reports, and in-game coaching responsibilities. Provide leadership and mentorship to student-athletes while modeling Christian character and integrity. Engage with the broader Trinity Academy community, including K-12 students, parents, and faculty, to promote and support the basketball program. Assist with the middle school and Junior Knights basketball programs to ensure continuity in skill development and program philosophy. Support the organization and operation of summer camps, clinics, and off-season training opportunities. Ensure compliance with KSHSAA regulations and Trinity Academy athletic department policies. Additional Responsibilities 1. Team Training and Development Assist in planning and conducting practices focused on skill development, strategy, teamwork, and competitive excellence. Provide individualized instruction and feedback to student-athletes to improve technical skills and game understanding. Foster a positive, encouraging, and inclusive team environment that emphasizes mutual respect, accountability, and sportsmanship. 2. Game Preparation and Strategy Assist the Head Coach in developing game plans and strategies based on team strengths and opponent tendencies. Help analyze team and individual performances to identify areas for growth and improvement. Support match-day operations, including warm-ups, statistics, player rotations, and bench management as assigned. 3. Student-Athlete Development and Support Encourage and support student-athletes in their spiritual growth through daily interactions, Bible study opportunities, and Christ-centered mentorship. Promote academic success, character development, leadership, and personal responsibility. Build meaningful relationships with players while serving as a positive role model both on and off the court. Encourage athletes to pursue individual and team goals while fostering a mindset of continuous improvement. 4. Communication and Collaboration Maintain positive and effective communication with players, parents, coaching staff, and school administration. Collaborate with the Head Coach and athletic department to coordinate schedules, events, and program initiatives. Assist in promoting the basketball program and supporting the overall mission of Trinity Academy athletics. Uphold and enforce all school, athletic department, and team policies and expectations.
Previous coaching experience in basketball at the high school, middle school or club level. Knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with players, parents, and colleagues. Passion for working with young athletes and helping them reach their full potential. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture. Willingness to comply with all school and athletic department policies and regulations.
The Assistant Basketball Coach position is part-time and seasonal, with practices and games typically held after school on weekdays.
