The Assistant Coach is responsible for recruiting, scheduling, and coaching athletes while managing practices and game-day logistics. They must maintain team discipline, implement conditioning programs, and support the head coach in overall program management.

Position Title: Asst Coach Men's Basketball
Recruiting, scheduling, fundraising and coaching all home and away baseball games. Essential Functions: Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the collegiate sports program. Teaches sports techniques, playing rules, strategies and playing tactics. Supervises and conducts practices and contests safely, supervising locker rooms and buses. Assists the head coach in carrying out his or her responsibilities. Condition athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance, strength and agility. Conduct practices and contests safely, supervising locker rooms and buses. Instruct team members about rules and changes in the rules and teach fundamentals of the sport. Help in the planning and implementation of both in-season and out-of-season conditioning and weight programs. Works closely with the Athletic Director notifying him/her of potential problems/awards, etc. The Assistant Coach is required to travel with the baseball team to all away games throughout the season. Extended hours based on game. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Has knowledge and background in the sport of baseball. Thorough knowledge of all athletics policies approved by the NJCM, OCCAC and Owens Community College. Understand FERPA and the proper administrative line of command and refer all student and parent requests or grievances through proper channels. Knowledge and background in the assigned sport. Teach sports techniques, playing rules, strategies and playing tactics. Other Characteristics: Accountable for personal actions on and off campus properties Arrives early enough before practices, contests, and meetings to adequately prepare and remain long enough afterward to help players with problems or to become involved in staff discussions Never criticizes, admonishes or argues with other coaching staff or any staff member within ears or eyes of players, parents, or fans Stives to improve skills by attending clinics Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) Previous coaching experience in baseball at the high school and or club level, preferably at the collegiate level. College playing experience preferred. Must have an acceptable criminal background check. Must have a valid driver's license.
