The Swim Coach is responsible for preparing and conducting practice sessions to improve swimmers' skills and confidence. They also manage swim meet administration and maintain regular communication with parents regarding athlete progress.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old with six months or two seasons of aquatic programming experience. Required certifications include Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches and YSL or WSI.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Swim Coach will apply their mastery of swimming techniques to create an engaging team environment with emphasis on safety, fun, and skill progression. The Swim Coach will build confidence of participants in the swim program, create lasting relationships with swimmers and families, and encourage participants to compete in local swim meets to create lasting memories.
1. Prepare and conduct practice sessions based on strengths, weaknesses, and interests of athletes, and increase swimmers’ confidence and mastery of skills and techniques
2. Attend and assist in administration of swim meets, encouraging participants before, during, and after their events
3. Maintain records of attendance, swim meet information, and registration, ensuring that all participants have paid for events
4. Communicate regularly with parents about swimmer progress, achievements, and upcoming events
5. Monitor use of athletic equipment to ensure safe and proper use
6. Knows and reviews all safety, emergency, and child abuse prevention policies and procedures, responding to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA protocol
