Whether you're coaching basketball, soccer, volleyball, flag football, softball, track and field, or another sport, you'll create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where every participant is encouraged to learn, grow, and reach their personal best. Through positive coaching and relationship building, you'll help young athletes build confidence on and off the playing field while fostering achievement, belonging, and character development. This is a part-time, seasonal, grant-funded position supporting after school sports programming during the school year. How You'll Make an Impact Lead engaging sports instruction that teaches fundamental skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition across a variety of sports. Create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where every participant feels supported, challenged, and inspired to succeed. Organize practices, games, leagues, tournaments, and skill development activities that promote confidence, teamwork, and personal growth. Build positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and YMCA Team Members while serving as a positive role model. Help ensure the program operates safely and effectively while delivering exceptional youth sports experiences that align with YMCA and grant expectations. Schedule This is a part-time, seasonal position that follows the school calendar. Sports Instructors typically work 3 to 4 days per week, averaging 6 to 10 hours per week, with shifts scheduled on school days between approximately 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Paid training and professional development are provided throughout the season. Additional opportunities for work may be available during school breaks, including summer sports programs, day camp, and other YMCA youth initiatives. Who We're Looking For This role is ideal for coaches, athletes, physical education instructors, recreation leaders, and sports enthusiasts who believe athletics can change lives. Whether you've coached youth sports, competed at a high level, or simply enjoy helping young people discover the joy of movement, you'll thrive in this role if you're passionate about teaching skills, building confidence, and creating positive experiences through sports. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications Eighteen (18) years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience coaching, teaching, or leading youth sports programs in a group setting. Knowledge of one or more sports, including basketball, soccer, volleyball, flag football, softball, baseball, track and field, or related activities. Ability to plan and deliver age appropriate practices, games, leagues, tournaments, and skill development activities. Strong communication skills, emotional maturity, and the ability to build positive, authentic relationships with youth and families from diverse backgrounds.
