UMHC - SCCC - Exercise Physiology and Yoga Therapy has an exciting opportunity for a Yoga Therapist/Integrative Wellness position. The incumbent is able to triage a patient based on medical history and determine appropriateness of applying a yoga therapy/wellness intervention, conduct assessments as appropriate to a yoga therapist/wellness instructor, develop and implement yoga therapy/wellness programs, provide motivational coaching, facilitate evidence-based interventions, and monitor group therapy classes to assist patients in injury prevention and attaining wellness goals. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS Conducts patient initial assessment, either in-person or via telehealth, to determine appropriateness of participation in a yoga therapy/wellness intervention, one-on-one or group exercise class. Reviews health history to assess risk factors or conditions that may require medical clearance. Requests medical clearance from appropriate provider when necessary. Assures there is documentation of it in the chart prior to providing intervention. Develops and implements evidence-based yoga therapy/wellness interventions for program participants. Monitors participants throughout sessions, ensuring safety and assessing for abnormal physiological responses to exercise interventions. When appropriate, activates the emergency response system. Documents all patient encounters in EPIC ensuring accuracy and that appropriate medical terminology is utilized. Develops and presents yoga therapy/wellness educational sessions to participants and staff, collaborates on special events and projects as needed. Ensures participants are following policies and procedures in the designated exercise areas. Inspects equipment for damage, wear and tear, loss, and reports when equipment needs to be replaced. Compiles and manages patient intervention data using HIPAA compliant platforms. Maintains exercise area clean and ensures equipment is ready for participants’ use. Tracks attendance and alerts the appropriate channels when participants have missed numerous appointments. Participates in continuing education and recertification classes, as required to maintain certification. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and best practice. Participates in departmental PI projects, as needed. Contributes to facilitation of orientations, staff training, educational programs, and marketing campaigns as needed to help promote services and contribute to the success of the program. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
