  • Seasonal readers will be trained by the admissions staff to conduct admission application review.
  • Howard University will receive 30,000 admissions applications and to ensure that admissions internal review deadlines are met, seasonal readers must be able to be efficient, timely and accurate in reviewing applications.
  • All applications are read online.
  • Seasonal application readers will need to track hours and communicate frequently with the admission office.
  • Candidates must have access to a reliable, high-speed internet connection, and must have access to a private, secure location in which to work.
  • Seasonal application readers are expected to commit to training in October/November and work 10-20 hours per week through May.
  • Candidates who either currently work closely with high school students or are college admission professionals, including high school guidance counselors and independent consultants, or are employees at another undergraduate institution cannot be considered for this role.
  • Additionally, candidates who are the parents/guardians of a high school senior cannot be considered (Additional situational guidelines may also apply).

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree is required. To ensure that admissions decision deadlines are met, seasonal readers must be able to read quickly, carefully, and objectively while providing thorough and detailed notes. Well-developed computer skills and the ability to adapt to new technology are crucial. Must be able to spend long periods of time reading from a computer screen. Effective time management skills. Ability to exercise keen judgement and discretion. Strong attention to detail. Ability to maintain the strictest levels of discretion and confidentiality. Ability to meet admission decision deadlines.
