As a California In-Person Tutor, you will provide personalized 1:1 academic support to students in your local area. Our tutors work directly with students in their homes or approved community settings, creating engaging learning experiences tailored to each student's academic needs, learning style, and goals. Depending on your experience and qualifications, you may support students with general academic tutoring, special education needs, learning differences, behavioral accommodations, and individualized learning plans.
Location: In-person (In-home) tutoring Compensation: $25 - $35 per hour (Premium rates available based on experience, credentials, and performance) Hours: Highly flexible, part-time schedule. Choose from before/after-school hours or weekends (~10–20 hours per month, with opportunities to take on additional clients). Your Responsibilities: Deliver High-Impact Tutoring Support: Provide engaging academic instruction through 1:1 tutoring, small group tutoring, or specialized student support programs based on your experience and the needs of our students. Create a positive, encouraging learning environment that helps students build confidence, strengthen skills, and achieve academic goals. Personalized Academic Instruction: Adapt lessons, activities, and teaching strategies to meet each student’s learning style, academic level, and goals. Support students across a variety of subjects, including reading, writing, math, study skills, and other academic areas. Use creative and engaging approaches to make learning accessible, meaningful, and enjoyable. Special Education & Student Support (When Applicable): Provide individualized support for students with special education needs, learning differences, and unique academic or behavioral goals. Implement strategies aligned with student learning plans, including Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals when applicable. Support students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth through patient and consistent guidance. Collaboration & Progress Tracking: Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches to support continued growth. Communicate effectively with families, guardians, and school teams when applicable. Maintain accurate session notes and documentation to support student success. Build Meaningful Student Relationships: Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where students feel motivated and empowered. Serve as a positive mentor and role model while helping students reach their full potential.
Looking For: A location in California with the ability to reliably commute to student locations in their assigned area. Enrollment in an accredited college/university or an AA, BA, or higher degree (degrees or coursework in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or related fields are a plus). Experience in tutoring, teaching, mentoring, coaching, childcare, or other youth-focused roles. Experience supporting students with different learning styles, academic needs, special education needs, or behavioral accommodations is highly valued. Strong communication skills, patience, empathy, adaptability, and the ability to create engaging, student-centered learning experiences. The ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and school teams when applicable. Spanish fluency or additional language skills are a plus.
