Primary responsibility of a After-School Counselor includes, but is not limited to, leading children through ALL after-school activities to ensure the safety of campers at all times. Work and directly communicate with the Academy Director. Effectively and enthusiastically guide children through all camp activities by following the daily lesson plan. Ensure implementation of all safety standards and cleaning procedures. Strive to improve the present level of business through all current customer policies. Constantly maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the facility. Maintain professional appearance and conduct themselves, at all times, in accordance with business standards found in the employee handbook. Continue to develop professional status through continued training and education. Assist in the development of new service plans aimed at increasing the quality of our programs.
Understand and prepare for daily lesson plans. Repeat safety rules to children, as needed. Keep children active and having fun. Show children how to play with other children. Encourage good sportsmanship, good winners and good losers. Show children that they should treat each other the way they want to be treated. Participate in Spirit Days. Show children how to clean up after themselves. Arrive 5 minutes before your shift. Clean up after yourself and your group. Always be in control of your campers and manage your group effectively. At all times know how many campers are in your group. At all times know the names of all campers in your group. You are a role model for your campers, behave in a professional manner. Must be in the pool with your group during swim times. Communicate and work effectively with your partner counselor. Educate and communicate camper behavior issues with parents/guardians.
