The Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist provides individualized employment services to veterans and individuals with disabilities throughout the Martinsburg area. This field-based position combines career counseling, job development, employer engagement, job coaching, and ongoing employment support to help individuals obtain and maintain competitive, integrated employment.
Key Responsibilities Employment Planning & Career Development Conduct vocational assessments to identify strengths, interests, skills, and employment goals. Develop individualized employment plans that support each person's career objectives. Assist clients with resume preparation, job applications, interview preparation, and workplace readiness.
Job Development & Employer Partnerships Develop relationships with local employers to identify employment opportunities. Match qualified candidates with appropriate positions based on their skills and interests. Educate employers on workplace accommodations, disability inclusion, and supported employment services.
Job Coaching & Retention Provide on-site job coaching during orientation, onboarding, and the early stages of employment. Support individuals in developing workplace skills and building natural supports within their work environment. Monitor employment progress and provide follow-along services to promote long-term job retention.
Documentation & Case Management Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, and employment records using company technology. Manage an assigned caseload while meeting program requirements and service deadlines. Travel throughout the community to meet with participants, employers, and community partners.
