The teacher will monitor the safety and well-being of children while planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum. They are also responsible for mentoring department staff and maintaining positive communication with families.

About Our Program

The NEST therapeutic program is a healing-focused program within Playworks, our early childhood education center. Grounded in Dakota values and cultural wellness, the Nest program focuses on healing through relationships, social-emotional learning, and honoring each child’s unique needs and gifts. NEST program staff include skilled teachers and assistants, therapists and mental health specialists, and occupational and speech-language therapists. Centered on the traditional Native value that children are sacred, the NEST program partners with families to help each child learn, grow, and thrive.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must meet qualification and experience requirements from the MN Rule 3 guidelines for Teacher category.
  • Three or more years of experience in an early childhood educational program and leadership skills.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required.
  • Pass background check, work physical and drug test.
  • Valid Class D driver’s license may be required with good driving record.
  • Ability to move in a variety of motions including bending, squatting, crawling, kneeling, twisting, pulling, and/ or pushing.
  • Capacity to handle and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Has the physical abilities to perform the required job duties with or without accommodations, including on feet 80% of time.
