Job description

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking Youth Sports Lead to join our team!

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

The Youth Sports Lead provides supervision, leadership, and motivation for participants in all youth sports programming under the supervision of the Program Director, ensuring a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead and participate in youth sports program activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
  • You will prepare lessons and practice plans.
  • You will assist and support under the direction of the Program Director
  • Assist in recruiting and leading volunteers to assist with programming support

Qualifications

  • You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • You are a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • You have one year or more of related experience.
  • You are able to officiate games according to the rules of the sport(s).
  • You have knowledge and skills in various sports activities and related equipment, and the ability to instruct participants in techniques.
  • You have a general understanding of specific sport(s) and the rules or display a willingness to learn.
  • You have a positive attitude and are able to demonstrate a friendly, courteous and professional manner while working with members, parents and staff.
  • Able to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other online or in-person training as required.
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act)

Wage

$18.24 to $18.39 per hour, depending on qualifications

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Haselwood Family YMCA, Silverdale, WA
