Job Description

Texas A&M University–Texarkana, through the Education Division, seeks a qualified non-tenure-track clinical faculty member to teach, mentor, and advise undergraduate and graduate students in educator preparation programs. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction in face-to-face and online learning environments and contribute to the clinical and professional mission of the division. The standard teaching load is 15 semester credit hours per semester (five courses), with the possibility of summer teaching assignments. Primary instructional responsibilities will emphasize educational pedagogy, classroom management, differentiation, and special education, with the expectation that the faculty member may occasionally teach courses across the Education Division as program needs require. In addition to teaching, the position involves supervision of teacher candidates in clinical and field-based settings, collaboration with EC–12 school partners, and engagement in service and continuous program improvement. The successful candidate will value collegiality, reflective practice, and data-informed decision-making to support student success and program effectiveness. No pre-employment sponsorship is authorized for this position ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach undergraduate courses in education and special education using evidence-based instructional practices Deliver instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats in alignment with program and university standards Supervise teacher candidates during clinical placements, internships, residencies, and student teaching experiences Mentor and advise students regarding academic progress, professional growth, and certification pathways Collaborate with EC–12 school partners to support clinical experiences, field supervision, and program alignment Assess student learning and professional competencies using qualitative and quantitative data Contribute to continuous program improvement efforts through curriculum refinement, assessment review, and accreditation-related activities Participate in service to the Education Division, university, and profession consistent with a clinical faculty role Engage in practice-focused scholarly or professional activities, such as professional development, presentations, applied research, or program innovation Maintain accurate records and documentation related to instruction, supervision, and assessment Engage actively in the work of the Education Division at Texas A&M University–Texarkana Adhere to university policies, accreditation requirements, and ethical standards of the profession KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Minimum Qualifications

Hold an earned master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Curriculum & Instruction, Education, Special Education, or closely related field Be credentialed to teach education and special education courses in an educator preparation program Hold or be eligible for educator licensure in the State of Texas Possess a minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in a public or private school setting Exhibit strong interpersonal and collaborative skills Perform responsibilities that may require travel and work beyond normal office hours Uphold confidentiality and appropriately manage sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications

Hold an earned terminal degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Education, Special Education, or closely related field or be ABD Teach or have taught courses in higher education settings Demonstrate knowledge of Texas educator certification requirements and Texas Teaching Certification Exams Be qualified to teach Education (ED or EDUC) and Special Education (SPED) courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels Utilize Canvas or a comparable learning management system Supervise or support teacher candidates in clinical placements, internships, or residency settings Collaborate with EC–12 school partners to support educator preparation and program effectiveness Engage in practice-focused scholarly or professional activities, such as professional development, presentations, applied research, or program improvement initiatives Supervise or support certified teachers in EC–12 settings Other Requirements Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required at the time of hire.
