Special Education Teacher - Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Elementary/Middle

The teacher is responsible for providing and supervising all classroom activities for special education students, focusing on growth in functional academics, self-Help, social skills, communication, productivity, and leisure. This includes utilizing appropriate instructional plans and providing leadership and direction to classroom assistants.

Candidates must obtain or already possess full or temporary approval as a special education teacher for autism spectrum disorder according to michigan department of education rules, which may require prior asd classroom experience or full approval in another special education area. Essential requirements include knowledge of asd, willingness to be certified in crisis prevention intervention, effective communication skills, and the physical ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
