The teacher is responsible for preparing and administering a curriculum or an individualized education plan (Iep) for each student, ensuring weekly plans are ready by monday morning based on mississippi college and career standards. Responsibilities also include utilizing differentiated instruction, monitoring iep goals, and maintaining an orderly, engaging learning environment.

Candidates must possess a single a teaching license from the state of ms, and obtaining the aa 206 emotionally disability license within three years is mandatory for continued employment in special education classes. Two academic school years of teaching experience and a master's in special education are preferred, though an advanced degree and aa license can substitute for experience.
