Principal Faculty Members will demonstrate excellence and innovation in teaching, directing academic courses by coordinating content sequencing, delivery, and student evaluation across didactic and clinical phases. They will also engage in departmental responsibilities including advising students, participating in admissions, assisting with program self-assessment, and maintaining scholarly activity.
Candidates must possess a terminal degree in PA studies or an applicable healthcare discipline, along with current NCCPA certification and eligibility for North Carolina state licensure. A minimum of three years of clinical experience is required, while teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Elon University, renowned as a model for engaged learning, in partnership with the national search firm, Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for five Principal Faculty positions for its Physician Assistant Program located in Elon, NC due to the program expanding its cohort size, with the new class that matriculated in January 2026. These faculty members will help to develop and implement curricular aspects of a fully accredited program in Physician Assistant (PA) Studies.
The anticipated start date for the position is Summer 2026.
The program received Accreditation-Continued from the Accreditation Review Commission for the Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) in 2016 and has been approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to grant the MSPAS degree. This PA program is housed in Elon, NC within Elon University’s School of Health Sciences (SHS). The SHS currently includes this Department of Physician Assistant Studies program established in 2012, as well as a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program established in 1998, and Department of Nursing program established in 2021.
Principal program faculty report directly to the Chair/Program Director. This position is tenure-track eligible. The compensation offered will be commensurate with qualifications and include an excellent benefits package and generous retirement plan.
This is a full time 12-month faculty rank position. Faculty have the option to engage in clinical work or scholarship one day a week.
