Core responsibilities

Nurse externs will shadow registered nurses to learn patient assessment and treatments, observe care in specialty areas, and perform tasks similar to a nursing assistant, such as taking vital signs. They will also participate as a member of the healthcare team in delivering compassionate patient care.

Requirements summary

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a bachelor of science in nursing (Bsn) program and have completed nursing fundamentals. A basic life support (Bls) certification through the american heart association is also required for consideration.
