TITLE: Nurse Anesthesia Faculty Specialist, Austin Campus DIVISION: Academic DEPARTMENT: Egan School PRIMARY WORK LOCATION: Austin, TX campus, Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies UNUSUAL WORK CONDITIONS: May be required to attend off-hour meetings and events, travel to local health system and community partner organizations, in addition to the Fairfield, CT campus, as necessary. EMPLOYEE TYPE: Exempt BASIC FUNCTION: Serves as a Nurse Anesthesia Faculty Specialist for the Austin campus, supporting the program through contributions to course instruction, student simulation and assessment activities, curriculum development, program operations, and accreditation compliance. EDUCATION: Master’s degree in nursing or related field required; doctoral degree preferred. Current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) through the NBCRNA. Current, unencumbered RN and APRN Licenses in Connecticut and Texas (or eligibility for licensure). Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. EXPERIENCE: Prior teaching, course coordination, or academic experience preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a CRNA required ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist Nurse Anesthesia Program leadership to ensure compliance with COA and CCNE accreditation standards. Assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the Nurse Anesthesia curriculum in accordance with regulatory and professional guidelines. Develop, coordinate, and deliver instructional content for nurse anesthesia residents during didactic, simulation, and clinical portions of the program. Serve as a course instructor or course coordinator for assigned courses, including course planning, delivery of lectures, management of course materials, and student assessment. Utilize evaluation tools and grading methodologies for didactic coursework and program assessment. Evaluate and assess current educational needs of the nurse anesthesia residents and participate in the revision of curriculum as needed in conjunction with Program Administration and faculty Teach graduate-level courses within the Nurse Anesthesia Program using evidence-based teaching strategies, innovative instructional methods, and distance accessible courses as required. Participate in recruitment, selection, and enrollment of nurse anesthesia residents during the admission process. Promote and implement innovative curricular design and education strategies to support nurse anesthesia resident learning and professional development. Collaborate with the Program Administration to monitor trends in nurse anesthesia practice and education. Maintain open communication with nurse anesthesia residents in the program by answering e-mails from students within 24-48 business hours. Competently use technology in teaching and distance learning. Serve as a professional role model and mentor for nurse anesthesia residents. Demonstrated computer skills using web-based applications and Microsoft Office Suite. Perform additional academic or administrative duties as assigned by program leadership.
